A 1 to go see racing RAce DAy

Gentlemen… start your engines!

Continuing from the last post, Carrie, her dad and me attended the A1gp race day. Unlike the previous day, there were definitely more people around, including foreigners. Seems like Malaysians rarely seen really tall people, because there was this tall Englishman, which people kept staring at. For me it is just a usual sight. The parking wasn’t free this time, but luckily it was cheap. Just needed to pay RM5 per entry. It was a good thing to arrive early because at the end of it, the car park was absolutely full.

A1gp hasn’t got the attraction of the formula 1 series, firstly because majority of the people have not been introduced to it. It also has a slightly more confusing race format, unlike the straight forward qualifying and race in F1. A1 has a few qualifying sessions, a sprint race and the actual thing, though for newbie’s they might be confused with the sprint session and the actual race. The reason I mention this is the sprint race winner also gets a prize and celebrate like they just won the whole thing. The hype during the sprint race can also confuse people.

Unlike F1, A1 has countries competing against each other, and each car has the same engine. What makes them different are the drivers respectively and also the settings of the car. If I’m not mistaken, each car has a turbo boost that can be activated to a maximum of 9 times throughout a race. Each boost adds 10hp, though little, it makes all the difference.

So there we were at the international Sepang circuit once again. The same activities were still held since yesterday. A lot of blow-up kids thing, such as giant slides, a castle, and a train which has an ass that resembles… an ass. There was also a booth where kids were free to play some small R/C to race each other. Cheap things being used, all I saw was the cars hitting the wall most of the time. Also another bigger camp where the souvenirs were sold, and some other games. We tried the one which needs a steady hand to guide your metal thing, and if u hit the circuit it buzzed… oh what are they called again… nevermind. We also bought some ear plugs, which cost RM10 per pair. More hiked up prices, but it is sort off a need because the cars really pass by at ear splitting decibles.

for those who would like to watch the next A1, I suggest filling yourself before the event. There are very limited food choices there, and the prices are quite expensive. Also stay away from the fried rice… not enough rice, and a rock chicken. Rock chicken not as in a new type of cuisine, only that it is hard as a rock. In all honesty I actually would have like to eat Burger King but unfortunately everybody else had the same idea, which means the queue was long.

During the time we were there some cool events took place, like the race driver parade. They were each driven in a Lotus, some of the drivers sitting on the roof. Yeah these cars are convertibles, not the driver climb out on top of the roof. What else… some GT cars running about. When the race wanted to start there would be a tv helicopter that flew very low. Its something of a sight to me, I like flying machines, and to see this pilot fly the helicopter with such skills is really something.
When alas the real race was going to start, it rained. This was a great setup for some crashes which was something I would like to see. Other then one spin out that was the only ‘crash’ I saw. I must mention that it rained quite heavily during the warm up before the cars race so I was thinking whether the water entered the car and creating a bath tub for the drivers. Actual race time… it was not that exciting, it got boring after a while thanks to the lap board not working from the place we were sitting. Alex kept getting overtaken and you can see the crowd not being happy about it. In the end we decided to leave earlier to avoid the exiting crowd and maybe find something better to do.

It was a mixed bag of fun and boredom at the end of the day, but for sure it was tiring. I was the driver so I didn’t have any chance to have some shut eye. Good thing it was free… haha.

A 1 to go see racing?

A 1 to go see racing?

My mom got some tickets to go see the A1 racing that’s currently held at the Sepang international circuit today. I’m not really quite sure how she got the tickets but I was not going to miss an opportunity to watch some cars go really fast.

Joining me of course is Carrie, who else would I want to bring?

The tickets I got were 2 CORPORATE SUITE which means I get to sit in an airconditioned room, get free food and saved my ears from becoming deaf!! (more on this later)

I started off the journey to Sepang after fetching Carrie from a workout session at Fitness First with her family, after a short mamak session we were off on the high road towards Sepang. Luckily I had followed my dad on numerous occasions when he had to send my mom to the airport, so getting there was not a problem.

It was really a sun shining day, and what a day it was to drive. The driving itself was enjoyable, I could really bond with my car then, should have done something like this earlier with my car, so I can know what it can and can’t do. Along the way we get to see some beautiful scenary (for me my beautiful scenary sat next to me already), planes taking off and landing, and lots of palm trees.

Upon reaching Sepang, had to find our way to the f1 circuit, which was not hard… but NOT thanks to our Malaysian signboard. At a junction it said go straight when the both of us can see the words F1 Circuit clear marked on one of the hills. So just to play safe I followed the board. Big mistake, nearly went to the cargo area of the LCCT, so quickly turned back before I get accused of trying to steal more microchips (read the newspapers for those who don’t know).

It is so nice to have CORPORATE SUITE tags, I felt like people treated you with a little more respect. Well that’s what I felt, and also the smugness of seeing other people sit in the stands while I enjoy the lovely cooling aircond.

At the circuit lots of racing was going on, so people won’t be bored having to wait for the A1 cars to come out. From Honda Intergra, Petronas School Cars, two speeding SLK and at the end after the qualifying ended… a race of Kancils.. LOL situation.

Let me say one thing of those who never watched a real race before… the cars are VERY loud. If you think going to a concert was loud, then you are badly mistaken. The first time you hear the roar of the A1 car your ears WILL HURT! When the car passes at speeds excess of 300km/h you’ll need to close your ears. Though I did notice some who already got used to the noise. Another thing, being there and watching from the TV is two different experience altogether, the crashes are more entertaining (though from where we were sitting none of the crashes happened) the cars are much bigger than you think, and they are FAST. Not to mention loud.

Well tomorrow I’m going again to watch the race day, so wait for my next post. Included are some pics I took. I got some videos, but having problems to upload them…

An article in the papers

Space, the final frontier. It would be something of a dream to be able to go up into space. To bear witness to mother earth, the planet of which we dwell on. The sways of clouds swirling, forming shapes, when viewed for a long time transforms with our imagination. Take in the blue sea, spans across, covering, a blanket of life it hydrates our life, a liquid of great importance. There the towering masses of concrete, covering the once great lushes of green. Mountains torn apart only to be replaced by skyscrapers. Just as its namesake, scrapes the sky. Majestically our planet revolves, turns day to night, night to day. Summer to winter, and so forth.

Those who were lucky enough to be chosen, to become astronauts, I truly admire and envy them. They get to bare witness to all, the get to feel the different environments.

Then I read in the newspapers… an article sent in by a reader.

Malaysian astronauts are going to play traditional games in space.

What a disappointment it is to read such thing. I believe it is true as well. Knowing this country, there are some real idiots sitting up there. Instead of devising some special experiment and taking advantage of the lack of gravity to explore new things, they intend to play, ‘congkak’. Malaysia has already a very low standard in our so called high tech society. Technologies that we have are just those being bought from overseas and neighboring countries. We have a real advantage being a land under the equator, where only two seasons appear. The drought and the rainfall. We have naught any earthquakes nor any environmental disasters. We have a blessed country which could really stand tall amongst the rest.

And instead of picking up our feet, we sit and play with our toes…

Seems there’s never a time when we really think about doing the right things, those that matters most.

I’m sad to say, its not Malaysia boleh, but Malaysia bodoh.

I’m proud to be Malaysian? It’s hypothetical.

mouthing around

Its holiday times, how fast time has passed. Last I remembered I was just enrolling into Cochrane and now… well now, its time to enjoy.
Enjoy? Am I joking? I’m a form 6 student taking one of the hardest tests in the world this time next year. Enjoy is the last thing on my mind this holiday season. I will be knee high in books of accounts and business. Though all study and no play makes Johan a crazy man. Of course I will take some time of to spend with my beloved (hehe), can’t miss that.
Now let me start by complaining. It’s been a long time it’s been stuck within me and now I feel that I want to let it all out. First of all I would like to give a piece of my mind about services in Malaysia. To those who took in a ride in my car, you may have noticed that the radio and clock is gone. Well it wasn’t stolen, merely a defect was found. Seems that one of the door speakers gone kaput. Plain English means it’s broken. So I sent it to perodua service during my monthly inspection. This was one week after Raya. From that day till now… it’s a very long time to ‘replace’ a speaker. But let me get one thing straight readers, what they took was the radio unit; just to tell me that it was not broken instead it was the speaker. But until now I’ve yet to receive my call from the service center to replace back my radio unit. My car feels incomplete, there’s a big hole in the middle of the dash, and it’s unsightly! I like to add that it is I whom keep giving them calls just to remind them they have something of mine. What I didn’t like was they didn’t have the courtesy to give me the call instead to tell me the return of my radio has been delayed. What a real dissapointment, so my advice is, if there is anything to do with warranty… in a Malaysian car, don’t expect the best of services. If you have the money buy a good brand, and if anything needs replacing, go forth and buy it yourself.
Now my second complaint. Let me ask you this question. Do you play music loudly at night on a weekday? Say around 11pm to early in the hours? Well if you answer yes… than be damn, you inconsiderate… *^7$%2!! Okay, back to my writing. Right now my neighbour is this type of asshole. He plays karaoke in the middle of the night, freaking pisses me off. One day I swear i’ll punch his face. Luckily he picked those days to sing his aweful voice on not so important days. Do that when it reaches STPM time and he’ll be sorry. The idoits that occupy my next house are a bunch of salesmen. They sell and rent houses. The most important aspect is that they’re single. Single people staying in their own places are inconsiderate idiots. That’s my opinion. I don’t mind the music blasting during the afternoon. I’ve been tempted to blast back my music, but I’m not incline to stoop down to the lowly idiotic asshole levels. I hope one day that subwoofer of theirs blow up in their faces while singing at horrible pitches. Can’t they hear their own voice? Idiotic gits.
Going on a happier note, just watched Happy Feet with Carrie, and I must say it’s a highly recommended film to watch. Im sure girls would scream at e little cute penguin. They really are very cute, even from a guy’s perspective. You’d wish you had a cuddly penguin to hug when you’re watching this film. The animation is great, as expected from CG movies nowadays. Did I mention cute? Haha. Caracterisation is also excellent in this movie, you’ll really feel emotions for Mumble, and you’d love the samba gang, especially one called Ramon. You won’t miss him. The plot doesn’t just revolve about finding love in the penguin world, there’s more to it, but I won’t give any away hehe. I recommend buying a cute little cuddler before watching!
Other than that, been busy playing NFS: Carbon. It’s a sequel to last year’s Most Wanted. Though actually Most Wanted was the better of the two. Its pretty much more of the same, take and give some cars and some racing modes. One of those modes is called Canyon. This is a challenging race of true skills, the cars is removed of any NOS or SPEEDBREAKER. First round has you following your opponent and racking up points, next he will start chasing you, taking away your points. Reach the finish line with any amount of remaining points and you win. Fall of the cliff, let him pass you, or get left behind and you lose. Drifting has been incorporated more this time around, but still, its not the best way to get round corners. The last car which is the Audi LE MANS Quattro is truly a babe.
Wokay, that’s all for this week’s entry, thanks for reading.

oh yeah one more thing, the PS3 is out!!!! ah, damn only buying it next year AFTER stpm. if buy some luck you could go to Japan or AMerica and buy it, it will just cost RM1900++ unlike in MALAYSIA it costs RM3000++ damn those cut throat game sellers

PICS OF AUDI LE-MANS QUATTRO AND PS3 THOUGH PS3 WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN BLACK

english essay practice... a review

a 1:16 scale replica of a Toyota Supra which has a tuned and modified look, colored in a metallic purple paint, aluminium rims, black colored bonnet and a GT wing, this RC from Nikko has what it takes to call out the boy within any guy. for car enthusiasts or those who just want to play with it as a toy, this Supra is worth a look.

special features include an openable hood, which inside is a chrome plastic engine- but does nothing other than being there to add value to the toy.

in line with the latest movie - Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, this car has a drifting capability. it is also part of the line of different models that has the drifting function, although there are select models which are taken from the movie itself.

included in the package are 2 sets of drift tyres. the tyres are made of a harder rubber compound, and offers LESS grip. changing them is a breeze with the included tool. also included in the package are 6 AA batteries and a 9V one.

playtime duration is currently unknown, but it is always recommended to buy rechargable batteries when operating such energy sucking things.

enough of this seriousness in my typing...

its time to turn this baby on!

after inserting all the included batteries in their proper compartments- its time to drift! well... nearly. i started off with the grip tyres, and well... they grip. a forward push on the RC and you'll see the rear end tyres spinning like mad. synonimous with drift cars, they dont have a high top speed. same goes for this RC, so those who want a racing car, drift (pun intended) away from this line from Nikko.

it handles like any other battery powered RC in the market, but wait till you change the tyres. using the tool, and acting like a single man pit crew i quickly inserted the 'Falken' tyres, seems Nikko got permission to use this brand of tyres. anyway, one they're on, try pressing forward on the RC and what you get a a doughnut. no no, u dont get a 'doughnut' but the RC spins on the spot. from now on u get a feeling this ain't going to be easy. controlling the throttle will allow u to move around, but the car does not like to go in a straight line, the butt likes to slide out, but do note when this car reaches top speed it DOES go in a straight line, instead turning would be a chore then. also remember, top speed is reached quite fast (means the car is kinda slow).

how do i drift? actually i havent really done a true drift around corners, but if making the car slide around, spin out, and do some cool doughnuts, than yeah i've done it. currently im only good at doing 90' turns haha.

take more practice i hope i can finally drift around a corner.

but until then...

quite a fun package, though i do wish the car can go faster...
ready to run out of the box, just take care not to hit chairs and iron boards. add some baby powder and its like driving on wet roads. the body can easily be scratch so caution needed. other than that it is also nice as a display item, looks like the real thing!

Toyota Supra RC Drifter - can a RC drift?

lately, nearly every movie out there that has anything to do with cars has drifting involved. take a look at the latest Fast&Furious, its one of the names that has popularised drifting.

so what is drifting?

originating from the streets of Japan, drifting is a skill that not many drivers posses. it is an art of making your car's rear end skid and trying to control the car so it does not oversteer over a corner. drifting takes a lot of skill and burns more rubber than a trip back to Penang.

some may mistake drifting as a faster way around a corner. take the show Initial D, where the characters throw their car around at impossible speeds but with the tyres stuck firmly on the ground. also games such as Ridge Racer and such. the true form of drifting eats the rear end tyres like me eating a doughnut. it burns up the clutch, not to mention petrol. if drifting is truly the fastest way around a corner... why isn't Micheal Schumacher doing it?

but then again, drifting is totally cool. a driver that knows this skill is more likely able to control his or her car during an accidental skid. a skill that would have saved me RM400...

now, to start drifting, one needs a rear wheel drive car with enough horses to spin it. a tyre shop, and one lorry full of petrol and some mechanical skills.

got that?

i taught not, neither do i.

so instead get a drift capable RC -muahahaha (thanks 2 some1)

how does a RC handle? well it can do doughnuts easily thats for sure! doing a drift around a corner still needs skill and practice and a more sensitive controller. take note also that a drift RC does not have top speed. instead the gear ratio is more towards a high acceleration to make the tyres spin. change from the grip to drift tyres (included) and it just goes crazy! forget about trying to go in a straight line. but for sure it is totally fun, its just the crazyness that the car shows that is fun.

ah... i think my english has deteriorate... damn. if my post sucks tell please.

i think there will be more updates from me, as far as i know this is the 0nly way to practice my essay writing skills

a serious update needed!?

how long have i not touched my blog eh? haha, i doubt that im typing this for anyone to read... T.T

my fault... haha

the time span since my last post; lots of events had happened though i am lazy to elaborate more on it...

lazyness prevents me from recollecting past events to be blogged, so i guess i'll be typing about other things...

also in a way i'm practicing essays for STPM next year.

boys and their toys?

we are boys, no matter what the age. men can't resist certain things, especially if they're interesting, and even better when they're cheap!

for me, i have a thing for flying objects. no, not flys or mosquitoes, they're just annoying... nope, i like helicopters and aeroplanes. owning a real one is out of the question... i need to have a flying license and i need to be a millionaire ++ (1 mil is not enough). so how do i satisfy this need? i dont like models of current planes or helicopters... they burn a hole in your pocket and all it does is sit at some corner looking pretty... (pretty as in how good you are at putting it together in the first place). so, honestly models are a waste of money. then what do i like? i like RC stuff. if you can control it, i like it. so lately... when i saw a RC Helicopter selling at RM128 (got a discount to RM121) i jumped! (i jumped in my mind). well, for those who share my interest, take my advice and DON'T buy that helicopter.

i was very disapointed with my purchase... i realised that the heli that i bought can only fly UP, CRASH, and apparently turn (like a drunked). nope it can't go forward, least of all backwards... and your control over it is just switching of the rotors when its going to land in someones back yard. after that i made very through research about how and what i need to know before buying an RC heli.

i'd like to share my knowledge about wat to know when buying things that fly...

FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT!!!
make sure the controller has 6 CHANNELS.
6 channels as in UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, FORWARD, BACKWARDS
it is otherwise known as 3d flight.
most battery powered RC heli has a flight time of 10-15mins (continous)
and... dont go and buy some china-made-cant-even-spell-things correct product.
the rest is just common sense.

there was a promotion for RC heli's at 1utama, a full 3d flight capable costing RM499. i hope its still in stock.

another thing i found out, there is an ad on the TV for some RC planes, called X-TWIN. made out of, strong flexible material, it costs between RM99-109 (toys'r'us @ the mall (near PWTC)) according to reviews on the net it can really fly, with 3D flight... very tempting...

just shows that... whatever the age, these kind of toys attracts boys. i even discussed it with my other friends, all were interested... but financially incapable >.<

X-twin, made of tough EPP foam, enabling it to withstand all manner of crashes and collisions, so there's no need to reach for the superglue every time

your lack of piloting prowess results in a nasty wipeout.Smart aerodynamics and powerful wing-mounted motors make this magnificent rechargeable flying machine incredibly manoeuvrable. In fact, the X-Twin is so nimble it can even be flown indoors! Yes, indoors! Try doing that with one of your petrol-driven behemoths of yesteryear. (Actually, don't...you'll wreck the place).
You control the X-Twin via a smart handheld transmitter which also doubles up as a charging unit. And you won't spend all day fiddling with your rudder because a 30 minute charge gives flight times of up to 15 minutes - more than enough time to dive-bomb the coffee machine, loop-the-loop above the boss's desk and soar across the IT department (or is it just us that wastes time at work?).Best of all the ready-to-fly, fully adjustable X-Twin is available in two frequencies, so you can take to the skies alongside a fellow flyer and engage in

acrobatic dogfights. We guarantee you'll be making stupid plane noises the second your X-Twin starts tailing the enemy. Nee-urrgh...atatatata!If you've never piloted an RC plane, the take-anywhere X-Twin represents an ideal introduction to model flying. But even if you're a self-appointed expert, this nifty little aircraft is sure to amaze, as it's so darned simple to fly. So what are you hanging about for? Get ordering before the skies become overrun by X-Twins

an essay.

they say life is but a journey. a journey that takes one from left to right, a road filled with bumps, holes but also beautiful scenary, long stretches of amazing sights to behold. that road also crosses with other paths, it may be parrallel, it may go in the opporsite direction. but life, is more than just a journey. it cant be put as just 'a road'. it is more than that, and we only get to experience it once. the time we each get should be treasured, for that clock may just stop ticking... one day.

looking at our lives day by day, one feels that it may be just a waste. thank god to technology and 'perkembangan tamadun', a teenager in the past at this age would probably be well into family life and half way thru his or her lifespan. in the modern age, our lives revolve going to school, going to work and in short going into a same repeating routine. it goes on for years, until a time where things move on, so a new chapter starts. it is always exciting, and surprising during this phase, new things are introduced, new partnerships, friends, co-workers. but one leaves behind memories, leave behind friends, loved ones... there is something amazing working in the background, i'm refering to the positive-negative teory. what goes up, must come down, there is good there is evil.

what comes to mind is between those moving chapters. to not waste our lives, those precious moments, we are adviced to live it fully. i question this; how do you live it fully? life is not like a game, where you can complete it 100% by doing everything, exploring everywhere, collecting bits and pieces... no, life is not even close to it. if life were a game, most of us would probably only complete 5% of it. there is much to explore, and much to do. same goes; one cant expect to go to every party there is! one cant expect to go to all the meetings, one cant expect to go to all those activities? can you? this author would say that this person does not have a life... so why, why would i say that? i have this reason for when i do something, it has to be meaningfull and it has to have a reason and a consequence. i emphasize meaningfull, it would be the most important factor. say there is an activity, you're invited, you go. you came, you saw, you conquered. but in your heart, you feel that it was a waste of time, why did i even bother? once such a taught even appeared, it means that what you did was meaningless. if you did something, only to have it thrown into the bin... where did all the time and sweat go? those precious amount of seconds could be wasted for something more... meaningfull, one does not know that there may be other things waiting in the background, just waiting for the right moment to reveal itself. though opportunities like this, they never stay. once the period is taken, it is forever lost. extinct.

choice, its as simple as choosing A or B. but consequence of the choice may vary... some of it are shown, others may be kept. can be said like a beautiful rainbow painting pleasant in the eyes, a feeling of achievement, or a growing mould on a bread, all dirty and destructive. it is funny how some, knowing already of the consequence, give events a benefit of the doubt, yet in the heart expect the same outcome. is it just to... irritate? to make one feel bad? to show that there are other places they could go? just so to say, why do that? its meaningless, even hurtfull.

people can never make everyone happy, but people can make the choice to make the correct ones happy. helping A might irritate B, or maybe also C, but think of the result and which has more meaning. one does not need to follow orders, in one's mind appears a simple taught, be it negative or positve that taught can actually describe one's full feelings. never depend on others, trust yourself, and trust that there will be someone to fall back onto. there always will be.

as chapters move on, experience from the past is brought forward. academic experience may come in handy, but thruth to be told, learn life's best lesson and use it. know men for what they are and not what they pretend. gut instinct is always true, such it is life. look at the surrounding as you make way. sitting as a passenger does not mean one does not learn. dont ever be fooled thinking that you have mastered something, if there is still words of advice in things, therfore there is room for improvement. a driver may handle the car, but can he handle the road? it would be a devastatement, if something would happen, but can actually be avoided. what if, after all the times of being lucky, one had the misfortune to have another vehicle both with wrong guidance, only to meet up, end up, in the worst of situation... i beg, dont leap before you run, and dont think you can run if there are still advice thrown to you.

all is not bad nor lost. on a white paper, there may be a black dot. our eyes focus on that dot, forgetting about the background. mistakes are made, more often than not, it overthrows all the good that has been done. let not make another mistake, look at things as a whole. dont let the mistake multiply, in the end an intoxicating poison... where there is no cure. appreciate whats there, dont think new things are better. in the end, one might missed what was the first and best... given, as a blessing from above.

this essay may be confusing. i hope it is not too confusing... i just wrote it non stop...
